Benneton Dough Proofing Basket! (BAD DOGGIE!!!)
I love kitchen gadgets, really I do. I had an opportunity to buy one of these Banneton Proofing Baskets at a significant discount in exchange for an unbiased and honest review. I went for it because I wanted to see how it worked.
First, some people have said on the Amazon Review that it’s smaller than they had imagined it to be. It’s actually exactly how I imagined it to be. Perfect size. How much dough are you making?????????? Seriously. it’s the perfect size for a large loaf, which is what most people would be making. 4 Cups of Flour fit EASILY in this proofing basket.
It’s made of natural canes so at first I thought it was damaged in shipment. I emailed the seller and they told me that this is natural – so if you get it and see where the canes were cut and “spliced” don’t freak out like I did. It’s normal.
I mixed my ingredients and put the shaggy dough mixture into the proofing basket and let it rise, it was perfect!!! I first coated the canes with flour as it says you should do – or use the liner… I didn’t really want to “dirty” the liner though!! At least not yet.. maybe once I’ve made some batches of dough….. I did use the included linen bag (which you store your bread in after it’s done cooking) to drape over the top of the basket while the yeast did it’s thing.
One thing… just before it was ready to pop in the oven, my dog decided she wanted to eat it. She knocked it off the countertop and ate the whole thing!!!!! Bad Doggie.
I guess I’ll just have to make another batch of dough!
Just A Guy Who Reviews Stuff gives this Banneton Dough Proofing Basket 5 STARS for being a cool way to store your rising dough and turns it into a very cool little loaf!
