Installation and Review (including a great video!) of the Norsk Wall Organizer
Let me start out by saying that I am probably what you would call “not that handy”. I mean I try to be… but I’m not. I do the best I can. So when Norsk sent me this Slatwall Kit to assemble… yeah, I was scared. Especially since I had to do an unbiased, honest review. I figured maybe I was just the type of guy they’re looking for. Not affiliated with them at all. Never saw this product before. Just a regular guy (actually, I’m pretty sure most guys have more carpentry skills than I do…) So here we go.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the finished product. I did NOT LOVE PUTTING IT TOGETHER! See, if you are moderately handy, this wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. Also — I cannot stress this enough.. because these are kind of long pieces, having someone to help you is EXTREMELY handy. I mean like REALLY handy. Like I wouldn’t do it again without someone to hold it for me. 🙂
The kit comes with all the pieces for assembly, you will however need a drill (YES) with a good phillips screwdriver bit. And a level. You do need a level. I followed the instructions and definitely did look at the video that they put on the manual just to make sure i was doing it the right way.
Word of caution: get a stud finder. Please. You need to drill it into the studs and using drywall anchors WONT WORK. The head of the screw is too big and the slats won’t go on. Big no-no. I had to take off the top part and re-do the whole thing. So learn from me.
Once your top piece is level and attached, the rest goes quick. The only other challenge was the side trim. I’m not sure what i’m doing wrong but it just did NOT want to go in.
But let me tell you.. it looks AWESOME! I wish it wasn’t so expensive for a bunch more because I would line my entire garage and shed with this stuff!!!!! Seriously. It looks and works great. Putting in the accessories is a breeze, literally a couple seconds.
Everything feels SO well constructed… It’s a great product.
