Kiven Vintage Pendant Edison Bulb Light Review and Installation Video
I have a new man cave and have been searching for the “right light” to put in there. Traditional fixtures bore me and the big hardware box stores didn’t have anything unique enough so I’ve been dealing with just a single light fixture in there for a few weeks now. I had an opportunity to get one of these pendant lights sent to me for free in exchange for an honest and completely unbiased review. I thought “why not?” — if I dislike it, i could always just rip it out and no-harm, no-foul.
So first off … the instructions aren’t good at all. It seems like common sense but these companies should really pay someone fluent in english to produce their marketing, packaging, and instructions. It was kind of funny to read, but confusing as all heck. I will be saving the instructions for a later laugh or two because it’s just crazy. It literally looks like someone typed in phrases into google translate to come out with what’s in front of me.
The good news here is that I’ve never seen a light fixture easier to put up. And I am NOT a handy person by any means. It went up so easily. The toughest thing was actually untangling the cords. (and that was SOOOOO difficult — note my sarcasm!)
I wish the cords were fabric wrapped or something that hides the bends in them….. but not enough to detract a point from the product.
I’ve seen people talk about voltage issues on here — There was NONE. Worked perfectly.
This fixture went up in about 15 minutes for me. All you literally do is screw in the center post, connect blacks together, connect whites together, connect grounds together. Then put the fixture up through the center post and use the round decorative nut on the end to secure in place. Adjust the center post nut down so you have a nice firm grab from the outlet box to the fixture itself.
Then you determine where you want your bulbs, and secure the sockets around your ceiling with 2 screws on the mounting bracket. Wasn’t time consuming at all.
I went the extra mile and used cable staples to get the cords up and out of the way — I wanted more head-room in the man cave!
It looks VERY nice. I couldn’t have asked for a more unique and beautiful fixture for the man cave. And the lights themselves make this fixture what it is. Without it, I’m afraid I might have been disappointed. So go the extra mile and buy the edison type bulbs — you won’t be sorry!!!
