Cabinets To Go Syracuse NY Review Kitchen Bath Wood Cabinet

I was looking for new kitchen cabinets in the Syracuse NY area and I was having a difficult time finding anything modern.  Everything was so traditional looking.  I kept looking and finally ended up at Cabinets To Go in Syracuse and I’m so very happy I did.  Cabinets To Go sells Kitchen and Bath Wood Cabinets, flooring, vanities, and more.

Here’s my review:

I had the best most favorable experience with Cabinets To Go in Syracuse. The entire staff was professional and both courteous as well as patient with me as we went through all the different cabinet options, accessories, designs, etc. Ryan my salesperson was incredible throughout the process and I would absolutely go back and do business with him again.

The cabinets I ordered came in very quick and they were very accommodating in terms of letting them stay there in their warehouse until my hardwoods were done and I could pick them up. Upon unboxing them, I found that these particular modern cabinets were a bit complicated (they’re not all like that I assure you) and I needed help in getting them assembled. I called for help and the manager George dropped what he was doing midday and came out to my house to assist. In the end, he ended up taking his own free time after work to help me assemble the cabinets – you have no idea how amazing that was.

I now have great cabinets at a fantastic price. I could not recommend Cabinets To Go more!!!! Great company that stands behind their product.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Meal Prep Bento Lunch Boxes with Lids 15 Day 30 Piece

According to Wikipedia, Bento (弁当 bentō)[1] is a single-portion take-out or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento holds rice or noodles, fish or meat, with pickled and cooked vegetables, in a box. [2] Containers range from disposable mass-produced to hand-crafted lacquerware. Bentos are readily available in many places throughout Japan, including convenience stores, bento shops (弁当屋 bentō-ya), railway stations, and department stores. However, Japanese homemakers often spend time and energy on a carefully prepared lunch box for their spouse, child, or themselves.

A “Bento Box” is commonly nowadays a high quality to-go or takeout container that is used for meal prep or food storage.  Meal prep is a great way to have portion control and to also control costs.  These bento boxes were a great find!!! $10.99 on Groupon – WOW! What a great value!

These are BPA, PVC, and phthalate free.  They can be used from freezer to microwave to dishwasher.  Safe for all!  The ones I purchased were 32oz. with 3 compartments 2 x 8 ounce and 1 x 16 ounce.  They really save money and time and are easy to stack in the freezer!!

Cord Cutting 2018 – How To Cut The Cable Cord

It’s 2018.  It’s time to cut the cord on cable!!!

I’ve been cord cutting for years now, before it was even the cool thing to do.  I get asked frequently what I use for my cordcutting so I compiled this list of Cord Cutting Tips & Tricks. It’s also been updated for 2018, so read this article and you’ll know How To Cut The Cable Cord Forever!

Cable is expensive, let’s face it. Cable operators like Spectrum (Time Warner), Cox, Comcast, etc. have you right where they want you.  The lack of traditional competition has resulted in steep prices and yearly price increases.  Frustrated cable customers have been reluctant to cut the cord due to the complexity of cord cutting.  Antennas, streaming services, kodi media boxes, terrarium TV, Netflix, Hulu, … there’s a lot of options for cordcutting.  But what’s the best way to say goodbye to cable?

Let me tell you how you can do it.

TABLO is an over the air DVR that allows you to immediately cut the cord on your cable – it comes in either 2 or 4 antenna tuner options. Connect an HD antenna and put it in a window anywhere in your house. You can even connect it to the old Time Warner / Verizon coax if you want to put the DVR somewhere and use the jacks in your house to connect the antenna It works great, period. Money well spent. If you have questions, let me know. This will give you all major network content free. If you want a pretty guide, I think it’s $50/year. And you can access your DVR remotely too and watch it on lots of devices.  It also allows you to avoid buying multiple antennas for multiple tv’s.  Cordcutting made easy!

For cable networks, I use DirecTV Now. It’s cheap $35/mo. I think, and its reliable and good quality. I tried Sling and I wasn’t super happy with it. I also had Playstation Vue (SONY) and it was good… the best part of Playstation Vue was the cloud DVR function. DTV is now testing their own cloud-based DVR so it’s on the horizon. Bottom line: look at what channels you watch and literally write down the must-haves. (MTV, HGTV, ESPN, etc.) and figure out what you absolutely cannot live without. Then look to Sling, DTV, or PS Vue and see what packages include your must-have channels. Pick the least expensive one that looks good. They’re about the same although Sling had the worst actual picture quality of all three (in my opinion).

The only other thing to consider when selecting an Internet Based Cable TV Provider is device compatibility. If you have an Amazon Fire box, you’re probably good and have no worries. But if you have something like a Western Digital TV box or even an Apple TV, you may have to make sure the internet cable provider has an app that works for your device. Some Smart TV’s also have apps for the providers, but again you have to make sure you’re supported. If you don’t have a streaming media box already, then it doesn’t matter. You can buy the one you want. For me, Amazon Fire Box (not stick) was my choice. The stick is slower (sluggish) and doesn’t offer as many options (external drives, etc.) Your mileage will vary.

And lastly, let’s talk about Kodi. If you have a streaming media box then you’re probably looking to jailbreak or sideload to put Kodi on it. Kodi is an application that allows you to put plug-ins into it for the purpose of streaming pretty much anything. The big plug-in is/was Exodus (still works great) and now its new replacement called Covenant. This is a game changer. Not quite legal, per say, but as they also say everyone is doing it. It enables you to stream pretty much most TV Shows and Movies. Even movies that are still in theaters (camera quality on some of them). It’s not perfect but it certainly gets the job done once you get the hang of it. Furthermore, the apps have TV Channels and Live Events on it. These are much, much harder to get to work as you have a lot of trial and error. There’s no good way to find the TV channel or live event you want other than go into repositories and try clicking on a stream to see if it works. It’s very unpredictable if it works, but if you’re trying to find an out of market football game or the boxing pay per view, you might get lucky that way.

Update for 2018:

What about Terrarium TV?

With Kodi, Exodus has been abandoned and streams are sometimes hit or miss on Covenant.  Plus with the complexity of adding repositories and then installing addons for Kodi, and then updating the addons as well as kodi itself….. a lot of people are frustrated with the kodi platform.  Welcome Terrarium TV!  Works much easier than Exodus and Covenant, I agree.  The only thing that’s a little annoying is the fact that there’s ads that sometimes come up.  With kodi’s addons there’s no ads whatsoever.  And Terrarium definitely appears a little less “put together”.  Kodi is very mature and stable – especially when playing local media (files on your network / USB drive).  The addons definitely are more challenging, so if you’re not a technology person – Terrarium TV probably is your better choice.

In a nutshell, my cord cutting recommendation.

Tablo gives you all the majors (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, etc.) and recording ability. The streaming media boxes (Amazon FireTV) plays the Tablo stream and can be jailbroken / sideloaded to put on Kodi. If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you get Amazon Prime Video for free. If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you can watch it all on the streaming media box. (although if you get good at Kodi, you will cut the cord on Netflix too!) And then decide on the internet cable TV service provider that has the cable networks you need/want based on their packages.

First of all, if privacy is a concern for you – you will absolutely want to install a VPN Service.  Private Internet Access is a good VPN service with attractive pricing.  If you have an Amazon Fire TV media player, you can see how to install PIA (Private Internet Access) on the Fire TV Stick or Box.

Tips For Reheating Pizza – How to heat leftovers

Looking for tips on what to do with leftover pizza and how to reheat it? Good because a lot of people throw it in the microwave and call it a day.  To that I say NO NO NO NO NO!  No way.  Pizza is not meant to be microwaved and if you eat cold pizza, I’m afraid we can’t be friends.

Is there such a thing as “leftover pizza”?

I mean if there’s leftover pizza, you’re doing something wrong!  Just kidding.  But seriously, what’s the best way to store and reheat that pizza that you just couldn’t finish.  First, the trick is to wrap it loosely with aluminum foil.  Do not wrap it too tight or the foil will stick to the pizza and be difficult to get off when you go to unwrap it.  Wrap each slice individually with aluminum foil, that way it’s easy to take a single piece out and heat it up.

Now, how do you actually reheat it?  In the toaster oven (or regular oven if you don’t have a toaster oven).  Seriously.  Just take a single slice of pizza out of the freezer, unwrap it, and place it in the toaster oven. (ok, maybe two slices…)  No need to thaw it out, just put it in and turn on the toaster oven.  At around 375 degrees, it takes about 8-10 minutes to reheat.  Don’t skimp on the process, let it crisp up.  I mean you’ve come this far.  Don’t take it out prematurely! Let it crisp and get golden brown and then take it out and eat it.  Over time you’ll dial in the temp and time perfectly, guaranteed.

The Perfect All Inclusive Baby Shower Kit

Know someone that’s having a baby?!?  I have found the perfect all inclusive baby shower kit!!!!  Everything is in this box, decorations, games, and more!!!! Pretty much all in the box.  Instant party!

This kit was provided to me free of charge in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.  I have no affiliation with this company and my words and experience with this product is all my own!! (and it has no impact on my review!)

In this kit you get 2 huge banners with “MOM TO BE” and “CONGRATS” in glitter letters.  They’re really great banners.  And then 25 of these very modern looking “Thank You” cards with the depection of clothes being hung up to try (with newborn clothes on it!!) – it’s actually a great way to announce having a baby by hanging up little baby clothes on a clothesline – so the cards are spot on!  Then there’s 40 of the “Mommy Advice Cards” which I’ve never heard of before.  Basically, it’s for mommies that have already been through it to tell the mommy to be what she’s going to say goodbye to, hello to, and advice on basic what happens when you have a little baby!  What a great concept.

You also get table / menu cards, sticker labels to close your thank you cards, and 2 very creative games to play at your baby shower.  “What’s The Word” and “Baby Babble” – which I won’t give everything away but they are great ice breakers and look like a whole lot of fun!

Everything is high quality, professionally printed, quality items.  A lot of thought was put into this and gives you a great “all in one” baby shower kit.  I couldn’t recommend more!!
